What Yomi is
Yomi is a computerized robotic navigational system designed to assist with both the preoperative planning and intraoperative phases of dental implant surgery.
The dentist creates and approves the plan, positions and controls the handpiece, performs the surgery, and makes clinical decisions throughout the procedure. Yomi is not an autonomous dentist.
How it may be used
Diagnostic imaging and restorative goals are used to plan proposed implant position and orientation.
During surgery, the system may provide physical guidance intended to help the dentist follow the accepted plan.
The dentist monitors the procedure and may modify or discontinue the planned use of the system when clinical judgment requires.
Yomi is intended for use in partially and fully edentulous adults who qualify for dental implants. Whether it is selected for a particular procedure depends on the accepted treatment plan, the clinical situation, available workflow, and Dr. Moini’s judgment.
A different guided, freehand, or staged technique may be appropriate.
A broader plan
Implant position should be considered in relation to the proposed final tooth or prosthesis—not as an isolated surgical goal.
